What changes when you leave BigCommerce (especially after June 2026)

The June 2026 fee surprise

BigCommerce added a 2% Open Payment Provider Fee on Core, 1% on Growth, 0.6% on Scale — for PayPal, Klarna, Affirm, Apple Pay, and B2B purchase orders. "No transaction fees" was their loudest argument against Shopify. It's gone.

0% platform transaction fees on every plan, every payment method, including B2B purchase orders. We will never add a surprise transaction fee to existing customers — your rate is locked for the life of your plan.

Forced upgrades on lowered thresholds

"A merchant at $150K annual GMV used to sit comfortably on Plus at $79/mo. That same merchant now sits on Scale at $299/mo. That's a 278% platform cost jump." BigCommerce lowered GMV thresholds in June 2026.

No GMV thresholds. No forced upgrades. You stay on your chosen plan until you decide to upgrade for features.

Core plan loses phone support

"The new Core plan loses phone support entirely. Chat and email remain. If you want to talk to a human at BigCommerce on their entry-level plan, you'll need to pay for an add-on or upgrade to Growth at $105/month."
